about
This is a song I wrote that is sort of a story told by 3 different perspectives. The first 2 stanzas are from the perspective of a homeless person, the second two, from a person walking by, and the chorus and bridge, are the narrator speaking. After the first chorus there is one stanza from the perspective of the person walking by, and then another from the perspective of the homeless person.
lyrics
All I hear is,
water trickle,
raindrops sprinkle,
cars splashing by,
sitting here alone,
trying to stay positive and stay dry,
as they walk past me,
try not to see me,
I think to myself,
How could they not lend a hand,
When they've got so much and clearly can,
From under my umbrella,
I spot that fella,
Hoping I had change to spare,
And I just kept on walking by,
Just trying not to stare,
Thinking get a real job,
You lazy slob,
You won't get a cent from me,
'Cause one thing I know,
Nothing in life is free,
I could walk miles in your shoes,
See where you're from,
And going to,
And understand you,
Or I could climb a pedestal,
Nose turned up looking down at you,
Is that what we do,
Now I've had a bad day,
They may need to layoff me,
And I've got bills to pay,
So deep in debt,
Somehow I've got to find some way,
As I reminisce,
On the country I miss,
That has since been lost to war,
And my visa was voided,
And I could renew it no more,
I could walk miles in your shoes,
See where you're from,
And going to,
And understand you,
Or I could climb a pedestal,
Nose turned up looking down at you,
Is that what we do,
We all walk down a separate road,
It's all uphill no matter where we go,
it always seems as though your neighbour's road,
Is so easy,
But what can we see,
I could walk miles in your shoes,
See where you're from,
And going to,
And understand you,
Or I could climb a pedestal,
Nose turned up looking down at you,
Is that what we do,
